EAST will award Undergraduate Research
Fellowships to support increased participation of students with disabilities
in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Examples
of the types of activities supported:
Projects designed to encourage the participation
of students with disabilities to pursue careers in STEM;
Development of new equipment, software, or materials to improve access
to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics;
Modification of equipment, software, or materials that improve access
to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; and
Revision of curricula or laboratories to improve their accessibility
for all students, including students with disabilities.
Eligibility
The EAST fellowship program provides stipends to undergraduate students
majoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics, or considering
STEM careers, to conduct research with a research supervisor for the
2009-2010 academic year. Students who will conduct research at a facility
of higher education in the state of Maine are eligible to apply. Students
must be in good standing in their major field of study.
Stipend
Undergraduate Research Fellowships provide a $3500 student stipend and
$1000 in faculty professional development funds plus up to $500 for
materials and supplies.
